Candy Corn Popcorn
I love the fun and whimsy of Halloween and I am so excited for it. I love that the weather is still nice, but there are so many fun activities going on. From decorating to corn mazes to lots of yummy treats. I want to share with you and easy and beautiful treat, candy corn popcorn. It works great a gift for teachers or as a Halloween party favor. It is even great to just enjoy at home in the fall season.
This gift take a little bit of effort and has lots of great taste! Mix up a couple batches of this awesome “Mother Goose” popcorn and layer it in a mason jar, clear gift bag or just serve in a bowl. I layered with the orange popcorn first, followed by the yellow and then just popped regular popcorn for the white layer.
Mother Goose Popcorn Recipe
Ingredients needed:
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 bags of microwave popcorn
- food coloring
Pop popcorn and take out un-popped kernels. Mix sugar and water (and food coloring if you want color) in a pan and bring to a boil. Boil to softball stage (230 degrees). Pour over popcorn and stir until it turns to sugar on popcorn. Lay popcorn out on wax paper until the popcorn sets.
Repeat with yellow and orange. Then pop a couple of bags to keep for the white. Instead of layering the popcorn. Mix it all together and serve in a bowl. Or serve each color in it’s own bowl next to each other to look layered like candy corn.
The last step is to add an adorable tag. Make it simple. Cut out a tag, add a pumpkin cut out. Tie the tag on with some ribbon or tulle. Such a cute and fun idea inspired by the fun and colorful candy corn candy.
