Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub
I’m so excited to have my friend Marilyn here today!!! She is amazing. Be sure to check out her site and this yummy pampering recipe for a sugar scrub.
A big hello to all the fans and readers of The Benson Street! I am super stoked to be here today while Emily is on maternity leave. Oh, wait, I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Marilyn and I blog over at 4 You With Love where I share all sorts of fun stuff. When you stop by, you’ll find things like recipes, DIY, crafts, knitting & crocheting, along with DIY Spa items (my favorite)!
Since Emily is busy with her little one, I’m sure she (along with the rest of us) is in need of a little pampering. So, I decided to share a super easy sugar scrub recipe with you today.
Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub
Now, if you have never make any of your own health and beauty products before, sugar scrubs are a super easy project to start with. A lot of recipes for sugar scrubs call for a liquid oil, like almond or olive. However, I find that the sugar all sinks to the bottom and the oil floats on top. So, you have to stir it every time you use your wonderful, homemade sugar scrub.
This recipe uses coconut oil. This way, the sugar stays suspended in the oil and you don’t have to stir your scrub when you use it. Are you ready to gather your ingredients? Here you go.
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil (this will provide a wonderful coconut aroma to your scrub)
- Zest of one lime
- 20-25 drops of Lime Essential Oil
Now this is super simple. In fact, I’m almost embarrassed to say that the hardest part is done. Yup. All you do now is place all 4 ingredients in a large mixing bowl, grab your beaters and mix until everything is combined thoroughly. Just like mixing up the sugar & butter when making a batch of cookies. It’s just that simple.
Once everything has been mixed together, place it in a wide mouth mason jar. That’s it! This recipe makes approximately 3 cups of coconut lime sugar scrub. Enough for you and a gift for a friend!
Now if you’d like to check out some of my other DIY spa recipes (like 4 ingredient non-petroleum jelly , 3 ingredient body butter, and more), just stop by my DIY Spa Page.
Emily, thanks so much for having me stop by! It’s been a blast!
