Pinwheel Wreath

Now that the weather is warming up in most parts of the country, it’s a good time to break out fun summer colors and decorate our homes. Today I want to show you home to make a cute Summer Pinwheel Wreath for your door!

I love pinwheels – they just scream “summer”, don’t you think?

For this fun wreath, I picked up a grapevine wreath from my local Michael’s and grabbed some burlap and two-sided scrapbook paper I already had on hand. If you can’t quite figure out how to make a pinwheel, here is a simple guide to help you out:

Basically, you start with a square and cut on the diagonal from all 4 corners almost to the center, but not quite. Then you just fold one corner of each triangle to the center and secure. Instant pinwheel!

For this wreath, I made pinwheels in various sizes. Cut your paper to 3″ – 8″ squares to get pinwheels similar to mine in the image above. I also adorned the centers of my pinwheels with either circles of paper or little rosettes.

To create the wreath, wrap a strip of burlap around part of the wreath loosely, then hot glue your pinwheels in place until you are satisfied with the arrangement.

I loved making groupings of the different sizes. Don’t they just make you happy?! 🙂

That’s it! It’s a simple way to add some fun summer color to your decor.
