Death Comes to Pemberley Book Review

Author: P.D. James

Extreme Book Nerd Category: A Book Set in Europe (although it could fit in other categories too)

Any Pride and Prejudice Fans out there? If you loved the original story this will be a fun read. Bonus points if you love a little bit of intrigue and mystery. The book picks up about 6 years after the original book. At this time the Darcy’s are in the midst of planning a big party when unexpected guests. Jack and Lydia Wickham show up along with one of their friends being murdered on the Darcy property. An investigation ensues to find out what exactly happened!

This book kept me interested and while I am not normally a murder mystery reader It wasn’t like an episode of CSI or anything like a serial killer. I loved checking in with Elizabeth and Jane (my old friends). P.D. James did a fantastic job.

I would recommend this book to any mystery lovers or fans of Jane Austen. Has anyone else read it? What did you think?

  1. So, I haven’t read the book, but I’ve seen the movie. Do you think knowing the story will make the read less fun?

    1. I think it would still be a good read, but I haven’t seen the Death Comes to Pemberley movie yet. It’s on my watch list. If I get it watched I’ll let you know. It probably will take some of the mystery out of the book, but it might still be a fun read. They always say the book is better 😉
