I can’t believe it’s been a month since I was at Disneyland! We had so much fun and I’m already wanting to plan another trip. I wanted to share a couple of reviews from our trip and this will be the first one! On our first night in Anaheim we decided to do a character dining experience for dinner at Goofy’s Kitchen. I’ll share with you how to make reservations, greetings with characters, food quality and service.

How to reserve character dining at Disneyland

There are a couple of ways to make a reservation. And reservations are recommended. Reservations can be made 60 days in advance. If you have a specific dining experience in mind I’d get the reservation as soon as you can to ensure you get the right time.

Make a reservation using the Disneyland App

  1. Download the Disneyland app and click the plus button on the bottom center.
  2. Click “Reserve Dining” and select your party size, date, and find a time that works for your party.
  3. Sign into your Disney account and confirm your reservation.

Make a reservation online

Go to https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/characters/ and select the dining experience you would like and check availability on the right hand side.

Make a reservation in person

Head to the Disneyland Hotel and look for Goofy’s Kitchen. If you are coming from Downtown Disney, it is over to the left. Ask up front if they have any reservations available. This is a great way to get a reservation if you prefer not to do it online or last minute when you are in the parks.

Greetings with Characters

Upon arrival we were able to meet Goofy and take a photo with him, plus a cute Goofy’s Kitchen pin for each member of your party. The staff photographers were very helpful and took photos with their cameras and our cell phones/cameras. They took action shots while we met Goofy and then a nice one with everyone looking.

During the meal we were greeted by:

  • Minnie
  • Chip
  • Dale
  • Pluto

Every 15 minutes or so Goofy leads the characters through the restaurant with a little dance parade. It is fun for the kids to see them walk around and have a little dance party during dinner.

We were able to meet with everyone except for Goofy (who stays at the door to meet diners as they enter) two to three times throughout our buffet meal. I always feel that it is nice to meet with the characters during a meal because you don’t have to wait in line and the characters come to you while the kids eat.

Food Quality and Service

Goofy’s Kitchen serves breakfast and dinner. We were dining for dinner on this trip and were very pleased with the options.

Some of our favorite dishes at Goofy’s Kitchen:

  • Mac and Cheese
  • Pizza (with special kid friendly flavors)
  • Roast
  • Turkey
  • Mini salad bar
  • fun pasta dishes
  • spaghetti and meatballs
  • hot dog tacos
  • quesadillas
  • fresh fruit and vegetables
  • soft serve ice cream
  • a variety of cookies
  • Mickey shaped fruity rice crispy treats (I made my own copycat version you can make here)

There are so many options I can’t even name them all. It should be easy to find multiple things everyone will enjoy. There are dishes that appeal to adults and kids.

As for service, a waiter or waitress will come around with beverages and clear plates. Everyone there is very attentive and the service was great. A cast member will come around with your photo with Goofy and an option to purchase a printed photo and/or photo pass.

Overall, character dining (especially) at dinner can be a bit expensive, but I like to think of it as an investment. The kids are eating and meeting characters. It also is a great way to start the magic of your trip or end it. All of the character dining experiences at Disneyland are at hotels except Minnie’s breakfast at Plaza Inn (inside Disneyland) can be attended without park admittance and without staying at a Disneyland hotel.
