Christmas time is almost here, friends! šŸŽ„ If you’re like me, you want gifts that are cute, cheap, and full of meaning. That’s why I made this Free Printable Candy Cane Poem Printable. What Is the Candy Cane Poem?

This poem (author unknown) shares the legend of the candy cane in six short lines. Each part of the candy points to Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. In fact, kids pick it up super fast. Here’s the full poem:

Look at the candy cane; what do you see? Stripes that are red like the blood shed for me. White for my Savior, Who’s sinless and pure. “J” is for Jesus, my Lord, that’s for sure! Turn it around and a staff you will see, Jesus, my shepherd, was born for me!

The red stripes remind us of His sacrifice. The white stands for His pure heart. Then, when you flip the crook of the candy cane upside down, you get a shepherd’s staff. What a sweet reminder of the Good Shepherd! šŸ‘

Each PDF file comes with four poem cards on one page. So, one sheet covers four gifts. You simply print, cut, and attach them to your own candy cane.

Why You’ll Love This Idea ā¤ļø

Let’s be honest. The holiday season gets busy fast. Between class parties, church events, and wrapping, we moms run on peppermint hot cocoa and pure grit. ā˜• This printable gives you a cute gift in about five minutes flat. Plus, it costs pennies per person, and your budget will thank you.

But here’s the best part. These little tags share the true reason we celebrate. Candy canes show up everywhere during the Christmas season, you know? Now every sweet treat tells the Christmas story of the birth of Jesus. It’s a fun way to plant seeds of faith in little hearts. And since gifts are totally my love language, this might be my new favorite holiday tradition!

How to Use the Free Printable Candy Cane Poem Printable

Putting these together is easy-peasy. You don’t need any fancy supplies. Here’s my quick step-by-step guide.

Step 1: Download and Print

First, grab the PDF download below. Enter your name and email address in the dark green download box. An email will be sent with the digital download files to your inbox. Next, print it on white cardstock for sturdy tags. Regular printer paper works too, but cardstock holds up better in backpacks.

Step 2: Cut and Punch

Then, cut out each of the four tags. A paper cutter makes this go super fast. After that, punch a small hole in the top corner of each tag.

Step 3: Attach to Candy Canes

Finally, slide a candy cane through the hole or tie it on with festive ribbon. Red and white baker’s twine or patterned Christmas washi tape looks extra cute. Now your Christmas candy cane gift is ready to share! šŸŽ

Variations for Using the Printable

Want to switch things up? Here are some fun activities and new ways to use the poem.

Make It a Coloring Sheet

Print the tags in black and white. Then, let kids color the candy cane outline themselves. It works just like coloring pages and keeps little hands busy while you prep snacks!

Turn It Into a Candy Cane Craft

Glue the poem onto construction paper. Next, have kids add a candy cane made from red and white pipe cleaners. These crafts make great keepsakes for Grandma. Or use this free printable Candy Cane Template/Coloring Sheet!

Add Bible Verses

Write a short verse, like John 10:11, on the back of each tag. This pairs perfectly with bible lessons about the Good Shepherd. Older kids can even look up the verse themselves.

Use It as a Greeting Card

Fold a tag onto the front of a blank card. Then, write a short note on the back. It makes a sweet Christian candy cane gift card for teachers!
