Guys, tonight I am going to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! I am beyond excited. Basically, I want to be a real wizard. I’ve tried Pottering (google the images), read all the books multiple times, watched the movies, dreamed about going to Universal, and now I’ve made this Newt Scamander Bag to take with me as my purse for the movie tonight. Oh the Mr. couldn’t be more proud. He is a Hufflepuff and so is Newt. Although I’m a Gryffindor, I’ll still sport this fun Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them inspired bag.
The fun thing about this movie is the book read is actually a text book. Not a real story so I had to go off of the trailer and that case had me thinking! I wish I could have put a few more elements into this bag but that is the fun part you can customize it how ever you like.
What you will need:
- Canvas Tote Bag
- Burnt Sienna Craft Paint
- Rose Gold Craft Paint
- Foam Paint Brush
- Paint Brush
- Brads
- Keyhole Embellishment
- Letter Embellishment
- Tag
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Take your blank canvas bag and paint one side with the Burnt Sienna paint using a foam brush (you can paint the whole bag, but I opted not to). Place a piece of cardboard in the bag while you paint. Allow to dry.
Then paint a round quarter of a circle in each corner of the bag with the Rose Gold paint using a regular paint brush. Allow to dry. Remove back of brads and hot glue the brads to the each of the quarter circles as shown.
Paint keyhole embellishment Rose Gold to match corners. Allow to dry and then hot glue it to the top on one side.
For the tag, I used a plain paper tag. I typed the words in a word processing program and then printed on a piece of paper. I then taped my tag on the piece of paper and printed again. Then I added the monogram letter “S” embellishment with hot glue. Tie to your handle and you are ready to go!
I loved how it turned out. I mean I really want the actual suitcase in the movie because I love antique suitcases, but hey this is a pretty close second.
