DIY Magnetic Board

Learn how to customize and make your own DIY Magnetic Board using a metal magnetic sheet, an old frame, and paint.

Hey there everyone!

My name is Colby and I blog over at Love Joy Glitter. I am super excited to be guest posting for Emily today!

I have always loved having paintings in my office, but with me adding new organization to my area, I decided to make it functional as well by making my own DIY Magnetic Wall Art and it looks awesome! The magnetic board still works even though a layer of paint is on it.

Let’s get started!

You will need:

  • A Magnetic Board (similar to this one, but small sheets of metal work too)
  • Paint
  • Stencil

How to Personalize your Magnetic Board

Steps to make your own personalized magnetic board:

  1. Using my magnetic board and a ruler you’ll want to make the design straight, you will want to measure it first before painting.
  2. Then put the stencil on the board and make sure it isn’t crooked – then paint it with a stencil of your choosing!
  3. Paint until the whole board is filled with your design! It took me about 1/2 an hour to do the whole thing – not including drying time.
  4. I added a purple dot in the middle of the flower to make it look more like a flower and less like an asterisk.
  5. The frame was also a bit scratched up so I fixed that as well -I taped the edges of the frame and painted them purple to give it a little more personality!

Final reveal:

Here is what it looks like finished, now I just need to add some cute magnets and I can display lists, notes, photos, and more.

Doesn’t it look great!? I am so happy that it turned out the way it did – it fits perfectly into my workspace and is both functional and pretty! A win win for all 🙂

A big thanks to Emily for letting me guest post today! I hope you will all enjoy and love this project as much as I do!

XOXO, Colby
