Did you see my Valentine’s Day dessert plate? I created it in February and it was so fun! We set one out a couple of times before Valentine’s and I knew I had to create a St. Patrick’s Day dessert board. I love all of the green and fun shamrocks, pots of gold, etc. To help you see how I created the dessert board, I created a time lapse video of my creating the dessert board.
As you can see, a St. Patrick’s Day Dessert Board is simple to put together. I usually start at the edges and fill in from there. Here is everything in on mine and more ideas.
Supplies:
- A cutting board or plate to arrange your items on
- A tea towel or large shamrock to make it extra festive
- Small plastic pots (found at Dollar Tree)
- Dried fruits, pineapple, kiwi, any other that would fit your color scheme
- Andes Mints
- I dipped coconut creme wafers in chocolate and sprinkled with gold and green sprinkles
- Chocolate mint cookie balls
- Chocolate dipped pretzels with gold and green sprinkles on top
- sour rainbow tapes rolled up
- green pear jelly beans.
- Yellow and green Laffy Taffy
- Small green lollipops
- Green tootsie rolls
- Green M&M’s
- Mint Oreos
- Gold chocolate coins
- Butterscotch candies
- Caramels
- Sour Punch straws in green
- small cookies
- small cupcakes
Basically, anything in greens, yellows, golds, etc. I found mine at a local grocery store that carries bulk foods. I bought almost everything. The only things I made were the chocolate dipped coconut creme wafers and the chocolate dipped pretzels. Before you dip things in chocolate, read my chocolate dipping tips.
Wrangle in the small items like M&M’s and jelly beans in the small black pots. They add a fun touch too.
If you are into catching a leprechaun stuff, maybe set up this St. Patrick’s Day dessert board for the kids to find complete with leprechaun tracks and a note from the leprechaun.
When making these, I try to be cognizant of my children or others who will be snacking on the dessert board and try to include at least one or two items that each person likes.
I added the dried fruit for a healthier touch to dessert, and the colors look so vibrant. Another way to make a pretty spread healthier is to include veggies. There are so many great green veggies to include. And use cookie cutters to cut them out in shamrock shapes for an extra fun touch.
Another great way to create a healthier or different type of spread, is to create a rainbow dessert board or fruit and veggie board. Simple arrange the board in colorful rows in the order of the rainbow.
Either way, these two cuties love it. And the chocolate covered pretzels are their favorite!
