Paper Strip Cardinal Craft

Make a simple cardinal craft using strips of construction paper.

Materials

  • Construction paper- red black and yellow Scissors
  • Glue
  • Twine or ribbon

Instructions

  • Gather all your supplies.
  • Cut two long red strips of red construction paper. make one slightly shorter than the other for the head.
  • Add a drop of glue to the end of one of the pieces of red construction paper.
  • Fold the non-glue end over to meet the end with glue. Hold with your fingers to secure for 1-2 minutes.
  • Repeat this direction with the second piece of red construction paper.
  • Place a small drop of glue on one red semi-circle and attach it to the other.
  • Make sure to have the pieces of red construction paper that have already been glued facing the same direction, this creates the head and tail. Hold with your fingers to secure for 1-2 minutes.
  • Cut out a small strip of yellow construction paper for the beak. Make a triangle and secure it with glue.
  • On the long end of the triangle attach to the head of the cardinal, and hold for 1-2 minutes to secure (the part of the yellow construction paper that is glued is the tip of the beak)
  • Make two thin strips of black construction paper for the legs. Accordion them 2 times to create feet.
  • Glue the two legs together making a ā€œVā€ and hold for 1-2 minutes to secure.
  • Attach two legs to the bottom of the cardinal. Hold for 1-2 minutes to secure.
  • Take twine or ribbon, feed it through the head of the cardinal, and tie it into a bow.
  • Enjoy your cardinal all year long!
