Peeps Bunny Easter Frosting Board

How to easily assemble an Easter themed peeps bunny frosting board.

Ingredients

For the frosting -

  • 1 c unsalted butter softened
  • 4 c powdered sugar
  • 1 t vanilla
  • ½ t salt
  • Yellow Food Coloring
  • Black frosting store bought tube or save a small amount and tint black

For the dippers - any variety of scoopable and snackable items

  • Pretzels
  • Pirouette
  • Lemon cookies
  • Nilla Wafers
  • Shortbread Cookies
  • Vanilla Wafer Cookies
  • Robin Eggs Chocolate Candies
  • M&M Candies
  • Peeps

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the softened butter, about half of the powdered sugar, vanilla and salt.

  • Mix on low until combined.
  • Add in the remaining powdered sugar and mix on low until combined. If the frosting appears dry or crumbly, add a dash of water or milk.

  • Bump up the speed to medium and whip for about a minute or until light and fluffy looking.

  • Add desired amount of yellow food coloring to tint the frosting yellow.

  • Transfer the frosting to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  • Print the template provided and cover with a piece of parchment.

  • Pipe stars around the outside edge and then fill in the center.
  • Use an offset spatula to flatten the icing.
  • Using the black frosting, pipe the small Peeps-style eyes and nose.

  • Transfer your piped Easter image to your serving platter.
  • Arrange the dipping items around the frosting, starting with the largest items first.

  • Small items like the M&M’s and candies can also be placed in bowls to add another effect or used to fill in small spaces between items.
  • Adjust the quantities of items, adding more or less, as the board gets filled in and covered to your liking.

  • Serve immediately or loosely cover with plastic wrap until ready to serve.

Notes

Storage: Buttercream needs to be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week. It will harden, so soften to room temp before using again. Dipping items should be stored in an airtight container at room temp.
