A Tiny Town for Your Elf

This printable is a set of little paper sign posts for your elf’s adventures. Each sign points to a fun spot in a pretend North Pole village. You get Sugar Plum Park and a North Pole Post Office sign. There’s also a double sign with Reindeer Stables pointing one way and Frosty’s Funland pointing the other. 🦌

Next, there’s a three-arrow sign for Mistletoe Market, Peppermint Plaza, and Gingerbread Bakery. 🍪 You also get Jolly Ginger Square. Finally, Cocoa Corner shares a post with Sleigh Ride Station. ☕

Every sign comes with a small bottom stand piece. You cut it out and slide it into the bottom of the post, just like an old paper doll. Then the sign stands up all by itself! For the sturdiest results, print them on cardstock.

Why You’ll Love This Easy Elf Idea

Let’s be honest here. Some nights you remember the elf at 11 p.m. in your pajamas. 😅 I’ve been there more times than I can count. These signs give you a quick setup without a trip to the craft store. You just grab them and go.

Plus, the kids go wild for them. My two love it when our elf leaves clues about where he’s been. A sign for Cocoa Corner sparks a whole story at breakfast. In other words, you get big magic from a little paper. And honestly, isn’t that the best kind of holiday win?

How to Use the Free Printable Elf on the Shelf Sign Posts

First, download the file and print it on white cardstock. Regular paper works in a pinch. However, cardstock keeps the signs from flopping over. 📄 To download, head to the bottom of the post. Enter your name and email address in the dark green download box. The file will be sent to your inbox.

Next, cut out each sign and its stand piece. A craft knife helps with tiny corners, but scissors work too. Then slide the stand into the bottom of each post. Now your signs stand tall and proud!

After that, pick a spot for your elf’s scene. A kitchen counter, bookshelf, or windowsill all work great. Set the elf next to a sign and add a small prop or two. That’s it, you’re done! Go to bed! 😴

Fun Ways to Use Your Elf Sign Posts

Build a Mini North Pole Village

Line up all the signs on a table or the mantel. Add cotton balls for snow and a few toy cars or blocks for buildings. Your elf can play tour guide for the whole family. Kids love spotting every new detail. ❄️

Set Up a Cocoa Corner Morning

Place the Cocoa Corner sign next to mugs and mini marshmallows. Your elf can “serve” hot cocoa before school. It makes a gray Monday feel extra cozy. You know, sometimes the simple stuff hits hardest.

Send Mail from the North Pole Post Office

Prop up the post office sign with a little letter from the elf. Or have him collect your kids’ wish lists. It’s a sweet way to keep the Christmas countdown going. Plus, you get a sneaky peek at what they want. 😉

Bake Day at Gingerbread Bakery

Set the elf beside the three-arrow sign with some cookies or a gingerbread house. He can “run the bakery” for a day. Then everyone gets a treat after dinner. Who knew elves were such good bakers? They must have elf-cellent training!

Common Questions About Elf Sign Posts

What paper should I use for elf sign posts?

Cardstock works best for these signs. A 65 lb or 110 lb weight keeps them sturdy. Regular printer paper can work, but the signs may lean or bend.

How do I make the signs stand up?

Each sign comes with a bottom stand piece. Cut it out and slide it into the bottom of the post, like a paper doll stand. If it feels wobbly, add a tiny piece of tape underneath.

Can I reuse the signs every year?

Yes, you sure can! Store them flat in a zip-top bag or folder with your elf supplies. Laminating them first helps them last even longer.

When should I start doing elf setups?

Many families welcome their elf on December 1st. Others start right after Thanksgiving. 🦃 There’s no wrong answer, so pick what works for your family.

What if I forget to move the elf?

It happens to the best of us! Tell the kids the elf needed a rest after a long night of reporting to Santa. Then set up a fun sign scene the next night to make up for it.
