Okay, friend, let’s be real. December gets busy fast, and those elf ideas don’t plan themselves! That’s exactly why I made this Elf on the Shelf paper dolls printable for you. It gives your kids a sweet way to play, and it gives you a few minutes to eat your breakfast while it’s still hot.

What Is the Elf Tailor Shop Paper Doll Set?

This free set turns your kitchen table into a North Pole tailor shop. It comes with a boy elf and a girl elf to cut out and dress. Then, kids get to run the shop with order forms, receipts, an open and closed sign, and role badges. The pack also has a measurement chart and fabric cards in fun patterns. Plus, you get boy and girl elf clothes, gift tags, a packaging template, and an Elf Tailor Shop sign. So, it works as both elf dress up printables and a full Christmas pretend play set. 🎄

Why You’ll Love This Idea

First of all, it’s easy. You just print, cut, and play. There’s no glitter, no glue gun, and no midnight run to the craft store. Plus, the pieces work for little hands and big kids alike. Honestly, it’s my favorite kind of Christmas activity for kids, you know?

Even better, this set sparks real imagination. My two love playing store, so a tailor shop felt like the perfect fit. Kids take orders, measure elves, and pick fabrics like tiny fashion designers. In addition, they practice writing, counting, and taking turns without even noticing. It’s learning wearing a Santa hat! 🎅

How to Use Your Elf on the Shelf Paper Dolls Printable

Getting started takes about ten minutes. Here’s what I do at our house. Follow these simple steps, and you’ll be open for business in no time.

Print and Prep

First, print the pages on white cardstock. Cardstock holds up better than regular paper, especially with eager little fingers. Next, cut out the boy and girl elf along the border. Then, glue the front and back together so your elf customers can handle lots of play.

Cut the Clothes and Props

After that, cut out the elf clothes pages and the fabric cards. I like to laminate the outfits and dolls if I have time, but it’s totally optional. Finally, fold the packaging template and tuck the clothes inside. Now everything has a home, and nothing ends up under the couch. 🙌

Set Up the Shop

Hang the Elf Tailor Shop sign on a wall or chair. Next, set out the order forms, receipts, and fabric cards with a pencil or two. Then, flip the sign to “open” and let the shopping begin!

Fun Ways to Use This Printable

There’s no wrong way to play with these elf paper dolls. Still, a few ideas keep my kids coming back for more. Pick one or try them all!

  • Run a real tailor shop. One child takes the order, another fills it, and a third packs the box.
  • Host an elf fashion show. The coffee table makes a perfect runway.
  • Get a note from the elf. Have your elf leave an order form asking for a brand-new outfit.
  • Sneak in some math. Grab a ruler and fill out the measurement chart together.
  • Decorate gifts. Add the gift tags to wrapped presents or treat bags for teachers.
  • Build a classroom center. Teachers, these Christmas dramatic play printables are made for you! 🍎

Variations to Try

Want to switch things up? These easy twists keep the fun going all month long. Plus, most use stuff you already have.

Add Real Fabric

Grab felt scraps or ribbon from your craft bin. Kids can glue tiny pieces onto the outfits for extra texture. As a result, every elf gets a one-of-a-kind look.

Turn It Into a Countdown

Hand out one order form each night in December. Your kids fill the order before bedtime. By Christmas Eve, your elves will have the fanciest closet at the North Pole! 🎁

Make It a Delivery Hunt

Pack finished outfits in the gift box and hide it somewhere new each morning. Kids then hunt for the delivery like it came straight from Santa’s workshop. Similarly, you can pair it with a quick note from your elf.

Elf on the Shelf Paper Dolls Printable FAQs

What age is this printable best for?

This set works best for kids ages 3 to 8. Younger kids may need help with cutting, but they love dressing the elves. Meanwhile, older kids can run the whole shop on their own.

What paper should I use?

White cardstock is your best bet. It’s sturdy, and it holds up to lots of outfit changes. Regular printer paper works too, though it may tear faster.

Can I use these with our family’s elf?

Absolutely! Many families set the paper dolls next to their elf as a morning surprise. Your elf could even drop off an order form for the kids to fill.

How do I store the paper doll clothes?

Use the packaging template in the set. Fold it up and keep all the outfits inside. A zip-top bag works great as a backup, too.
